A new exhibition featuring 14 paintings and three wood sculptures by Vietnamese-French artist Le Ba Dang opened Wednesday in Hue.

The exhibition includes Dang's collection of 80 prints and posters featuring the anti-war movement in Viet Nam.

One of the highlights is a poster about a joint anti-war declaration in French signed by famous artists, including Picasso, Matta, Pignon and Dang.

Born in 1921 in Quang Tri Province, Dang moved to France in 1940 to pursue an art career at Ecole de Beaux Arts de Toulouse.

While studying there, he was awarded prizes for painting, drawing and sculpture, and won his first commission.

In 1950, the Paris art community recognised his art, appreciating his blend of European and Far Eastern culture and philosophies. Dang was popular for his integration of colors.

As an accomplished printmaker, he favours etchings, lithographs and serigraphs.

His works are exhibited in galleries in Dusseldorf, Paris, Nantes, Cologne, Cannes and Aix en Provence. Many of them are owned by private and public collectors in Tokyo, New York and Paris.

The exhibition runs through August 25 at the Le Ba Dang Art Centre at 15 Le Loi Street in Hue.
